SUCCESS STORIES

Nikki’s Story

Listen and watch to Nikki (birthmother) discuss her decision to give birth instead of abort her child:  Nikki’s Story

Marta’s Story

I’d like to thank Foundations of Life Pregnancy Center and Catholic Charities Adoption Services for helping me through the hard times I’ve had to face this year. They provided me moral support and guidance. I was the victim of an act of violence. When I found out I was pregnant, I was afraid and unsure of what to do. I thought I had no other option but to go through with an abortion. However, it seemed that God kept telling me through many signs not to do it then I finally found hope. My mom suggested I talk to someone else and explore my options.  That’s when I went to Foundations of Life Pregnancy Center helped me by explaining my life options of parenting and adoption.  I knew I was not able or ready to parent so I decided to make an adoption plan through Catholic Charities Adoption Services. To choose a family who could provide the love and care for this baby. Not only did Foundations of Life at Catholic Charities help me, but I feel that ever since I’ve started talking with them and making my plan, I’ve gotten closer with both my mom and God. I feel I am much stronger and that I am in a much better place than I was before. I know this is not an easy decision but with my Mom and the people at Catholic Charities, I now know I can do what I feel is the right thing for both me and for my baby. Marta Quote: I chose a closed adoption. I am very happy with the family I selected and know they will love and care for my baby.

Sarah’s Story

Sarah is a 17 year old teenager who became pregnant not by her choice. She learned of the pregnancy and eventually confided in her mother who was devastated. She and her mother discussed abortion and even went to an abortion clinic, but were touched by the Holy Spirit. They came to the realization that this was indeed a life Sarah was carrying. It was a baby, her baby. Sarah and her mother visited the Foundations of Life Pregnancy Center and met with the staff who discussed parenting and the loving option of adoption. Sarah and her mother were so eager to learn more that they went to lunch and came back to meet with the adoption worker. Sarah was told that she would be making the decision about the type of adoption – open, closed, or semi-open – and that she would choose who would parent her child. After learning more about adoption, she and her mother felt adoption would definitely be a better option for both Sarah and her child. Sarah was counseled through the adoption process and she selected an adoptive family she felt would be the best parents for her unborn child. She and her mother met and interviewed the prospective parents and resolved to complete the adoption plan. Sarah gave birth to a beautiful baby boy in November and requested the adoptive parents be allowed to interact with the baby at the hospital. What she observed confirmed that she and her mother had made the right decision. * The names of our birth mothers have been changed to protect their privacy.
