One family’s triumph over Home eviction

June 24, 2015 by Lou Ricardo in Rapid Rehousing, Real Life Story
One family’s triumph over Home eviction

Delicia and her husband Gregory thought everything was on track. They were raising their son and two grandsons with great love and compassion. The family was happy. Then, in February, 2015, this tight knit family faced a crisis they never dreamed of when they were evicted from their home, the victims of a fraudulent online advertisement. Despite this setback, the family never lost hope.

Through a referral to the Catholic Charities, the family and their needs were assessed and they were housed in a rental property within two weeks through the assistance of Catholic Charities’ Rapid Re-housing program. Now, Delicia, Gregory and the children are free from their fear and uncertainty and have been able to plant roots in their new community. They have expressed the desire to stay in their new home as Delicia says, “forever”. Both Gregory and Delicia attribute their faith along with the help of Catholic Charities as the reason for their regained stability.
