Catholic and Lutherans Unite For A Day of Service

Event on: 2017-September 10th 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Who: Churchgoers from the Florida-Bahamas Synod, Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and the Diocese of St. Petersburg

What: Day of Service at Pinellas Hope

Where: Pinellas Hope, a shelter for homeless individuals located at 5726 126th Avenue North, Clearwater. Please respect the privacy of residents and ask permission before filming them.

Why: on Oct. 31, 2016, Pope Francis joined leaders of the Lutheran World Federation and prayed that “Catholics and Lutherans will be able to witness together to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.” As the 500th anniversary of the Protestant Reformation on Oct. 31, 2017 approaches, Catholics are making a renewed effort to show solidarity with our Lutheran brothers and sisters, heal wounds of division and continue the process of reconciliation.
