November 15, 2018 (Tampa, FL) – Danielle Husband, Director of Homeless and Veterans Services of Catholic Charities, discusses Pinellas Hope, the homeless shelter for adults located in Pinellas Park, during National Hunger and Homelessness Week, as well as tomorrow’s Open House at Pinellas Hope with Jamie, Afternoon Host for Spirit FM 90.5 (WBVM). (Interview runs until 14:59)

 

Mark Dufva, former Executive Director of Catholic Charities, discusses the position of the Catholic Church as it relates to President Trump’s recent Executive Order temporarily halting the entry of refugees into the United States. He also dispels some of the widely held myths about this population with facts based on Catholic Charities’ work in resettling refugees in the Tampa Bay area for over 40 years.

Mark Dufva, former Executive Director of Catholic Charities, explains the Catholic Church position (as articulated by Pope Francis on September 24th during his historic address to Congress in asking us to keep mindful of the Golden Rule: Mt 7:12) regarding continuing to accept refugees, especially during these trying times, where despite legitimate concerns many Americans feel after the many acts of terror that have befallen many innocents throughout the world, we are called to welcome our brothers and not allow those circumstances to steal charity from our hearts.
