First Baby Saved on opening day!
October 14, 2014
The Knights Women’s Center opened October 4, 2014 with a soft opening during 40 Days for life.
Our faith filled street advocates out on the sidewalk praying and trying to engage women as they enter the abortion “clinic.”
We started the morning off… on the wonderful feast day of St. Francis of Assisi asking his prayers to make us a channel of His peace. We asked for our Lords assistance to change minds of the women and families, of the abortion workers, of the doctors. We asked Jesus to give us strength and to help us.
Not long after did we get our first firm minded family. The couple came in with their beautiful 17 month little girl. The father told Liliana, it did not matter what we said or did, they were having an abortion.
Barb, our nurse turned up the Doppler and the big screen monitor to reveal a very active and healthy (we think little girl). The father stood firm and was making phone calls to his mother.
We were praying, the sidewalk advocates were praying, the Executive Director of Catholic Charities was sent an email and I asked him to pray as well.
The mother started to cry when she saw her baby. She was pale after hearing what was about to happen to her beautiful child. Liliana the manager of the Knights Women’s Center spoke bluntly to the father and told him he was the leader of his family and it was his responsibility to protect all his girls, including the unborn child his wife was carrying. Still not convinced, he led his wife and daughter back to the abortion mill.
They went in and after a few minutes, they came out and left. He thanked our sidewalk counselor and smiled at them. A few days later the family returned, they brought her mother-in-law to show her the photos of her future grandbaby girl. Before the family left, the baby had a name!
The 12th Baby saved since October 2014 at The Knights Women’s Center
February 18, 2015
Tuesday morning started cold and cloudy at Knights Women’s Center. Two young ladies came in looking for a pregnancy test and an ultrasound. The one who become our client was accompanied by her friend, whose GPS led her to our blue door.
Rose started with the client who later admitted she has an appointment at the abortion clinic to get abortion pills. They were both Hispanics with limited English abilities. Rose worked through the paperwork and determined she was abortion minded. She said her boyfriend wanted the baby but her father had told her last year that if she ever got pregnant, he would not accept her baby. Rose called Liliana who was on her way in and alerted her to the situation. Liliana came in and Rose introduced her then excused herself as she was late for an appointment herself! She knew the client was in good hand and was better equipped to converse with the client.
Liliana talked to the client over an hour. She was able to get the client to tell her all her fears and they were able to unravel the confusion she felt and make a plan. Using the new IPAD Little One app, Liliana showed her what her baby looked like at this point and how his/her little heart was beating. During their conversation, the client’s boyfriend called to tell her to go ahead and abort!! Apparently he had told his mother and changed his mind. He told the client that he didn’t want any part of it…she started to cry… Liliana then realized an actual sonogram was needed so she could see her own baby. She called Barb, the nurse and with the cooperation of Angie the other center manager, clients would be rescheduled so this urgent situation could be addressed. Barb rushed to KWC from Dade City as prepared the ultrasound machine. As soon as she was ready, the client was asked to finish the FPSS. We were confident going into the ultrasound because she wrote that when she came in she was thinking about abortion, but she changed her mind and selected her intention now was “to give birth and parent.”
During the sonogram, Barb found a baby and a strong heartbeat. The client saw her child, her his or her heartbeat, and she realized life was the only choice!
Great things happen when the Team works together! This make it an even dozen SAVES at Knights Women’s Center!!!!! God is good.
