Alexis’ Christmas List

January 15, 2022 by Lou Ricardo in Shelter

Alexis Armstrong is a creative and faithful Catholic teen who wants to spread the love of Christ to everyone she meets. Especially if it involves her favorite hobby, ART!

As Alexis saw the presents being added under her tree, she could not help but wonder how the children at San Jose Mission Apartments would be spending their Christmas! As her excitement grew, she wanted the children to feel excitement as well! According to Mrs. Lynn Armstrong, Alexis’ mother, “With all of her artwork, creativity, generosity and kindness towards others, she inspires us every day.”

Alexis learned that her church, St. Stephen Catholic Church, was participating along with Nativity Catholic School, Academy of Holy Names, Brandon Church of Christ and the community to donate Christmas presents to San Jose Mission Apartments. She said, “This year I wanted to be able to provide more by raising money for a gift card.” She then got to work!

Alexis sold her artwork to raise money for the kids at San Jose Mission Apartments! According to Alexis, “I had a great opportunity to participate in a homeschool market place to learn about selling, earning, profit and working with people. I sold my paintings for $5.00 and painted ornaments for $2.00. I was able to make a donation of $3.00 from the paintings and $1.00 from the ornament sales.” She raised $30.00 for the children’s Christmas. Alexis did not stop there!

Alexis goes above and beyond to spread love to her community. In addition to her fundraising activity, Alexis regularly volunteers to make sandwiches for those in need. With the Harvest Homeschool Group, she participates in this wonderful service project. Once the sandwiches are made, the teens drop these sandwiches off at a local church for volunteers to distribute to the homeless. Alexis said, “I believe everyone deserves happiness.”

Thanks to the schools and churches who participated in the Christmas Toy Drive and this faithful teen, the children at the San Jose Mission enjoyed a wonderful Christmas party on December 18, 2021. Click here for the story!
